The narrative for "the boi" originally began as a brief blurb in the 2021 Brookdale Collage Magazine issue. I was entrusted with the task of transforming it into a captivating story. "boi" is a character without a face, communicating emotions solely through body language. The intention was for viewers to embark on a personal journey alongside him, exploring the path to wellness. The magazine staff developed a deep fondness for "the boi" as a character, leading to his selection as the mascot for the 2021 Issue, as well as representing the illustrated staff portraits. I am delighted to share that this particular issue garnered the prestigious gold Print Literary Magazine Award at the Columbia University Student Work Crown Awards.
